1920's Pop Culture
After WWI the youth began to rule the 1920’s. Everything in this decade was breaking away from the old social norms. There was new technological advances and so people had more free time, and made more money. They now spent their time doing more fun activities.
The AutoMobile
With Henry Ford's innovative assembly line style production, the cost of producing his Ford Model - T was now much cheaper. More common people were able to afford the Model - T which meant more people could drive the automobile. The invention of the automobile allowed for faster and more convenient travel. It allowed for suburbs to now become an option for families because people could live farther away from work. It also allowed for the diffusion of ideas and communication to diffuse faster. With the automobile becoming so popular during this time period, it really hurt the Railroad Business. After WWI the youth began to rule the 1920’s. Radio and Movies
The 1920's is a transition period, and with this period came new technology. As radio broadcasting became more popular, so did radios. At night, families would sit around their radio and listen to their favorite shows and entertainment. People had more time for past times as well, such as movies. During the 1920's movies gave people information and allowed for ideas and news to be spread faster. There was the transition between silent movies to sound movies which were now possible with growing technology. With radio broadcasting and movies becoming more popular during this period, a new form of favorite entertainment was coming into peoples' lives.
Growing technology of airplanes/ lindbergh's success
The airplane during this time was beginning to be used for more tasks other than during war. The airplane allowed for faster travel time and it was used for delivering mail. Communication was made easier and diffusion of ideas became easier. Lindbergh was the first to fly the plane across the Atlantic Ocean and he became a hero to the American people. His flight from Long Island to Paris was legendary. It was a feat that no one had ever accomplished and he had conquered what seemed to be impossible.
Advertisements
Technology was growing within the press as well. With new methods and machines that made printing cheaper, advertisements were beginning to take a whole new spin. Instead of plainly telling of a new item coming out, producers were now trying to convince the customers that they NEEDED this item. Advertisements in the paper and catalogs became a whole lot more popular. People could now get anything they wanted from one catalog or store and this revolutionized the way people shopped.
'The Golden Age of Sports'
During the 1920's, sports of all kinds took off with a passion. From baseball, to soccer, and to horse racing, sports were a past time that all Americans loved. Baseball started to become a sport for anyone to watch, from poor to rich. Baseball was beginning to be advertised and was being sold every where. Famous players such a Babe Ruth become models for commercials and they went down in history for their legendary performance. Soccer took of as well, not so much in the U.S., but with increased radio broadcasting capabilities, many families would listen to soccer games being held in the U.K. Horse Racing by far was the favorite sport of choice for many though. Gambling and watching horses race was fun to many people.

Cause and Effect - The 1920’s was a big era for America because of the technological advances. The advances led people to waste a lot of their money on things like vehicles and sports. Because of these advances though there was a lot of benefits for americans. Americans who had cars could travel faster and need less time to walk from place to place. With all this time people used it to play sports, and go watch horse racing. The Cause of technological advances led to more time for the people and a new era of sports.
